摘要 | 本文是对华北泥河湾盆地东谷坨遗址石器工业的研究报告。该遗址出自早更新世河湖相地层,文化层巨厚、文化遗物丰富并有过持续、系统的发掘和初步研究。作者用数据库统计方法对该遗址80年代出土的一批完整的石器材料进行了较为详细的技术类型学分析,认为东谷坨遗址石器工业是原地埋藏的,以生产小型细长石片和以小石片加工的各类工具为目的的我国华北旧石器时代早期小石器传统工业。文中提出和论证了“东谷索石核”的概念及它与旧石器时代晚期楔形细石核的密切关系,证明了我国华北小石器传统不公渊远流长,还是广布于中国以及东亚、北亚和北美等细石器工业传统筹兼顾的先驱。东谷坨遗址石器工业研究使我们强烈地感觉有必要对传统的关于旧大陆东西方文化发展格局的认识,特别的长期以来在学术界广为流行的关于东亚早期人类石器制作水平低下的观点作重新的解释。同时,也提出了旧石器技术研究的新课题——对劣质原料的实验研究。“东谷坨石核”的创意反映了早期人类对环境变化的较强适应力和已有相当发展的石器制作水平。东谷坨遗址石器工业的研究加强发对早期人类文化多样性发展可能性的认识和一些早期限研究者提取出的亚洲可能是“一个最古老的人类工业的巨大的扩散中心”的推论。 |
其他摘要 | This paper is a research report on the lithic industry of the Donggutuo site in the Nihewan basin of North China. The site is a Lower Pleistocene fluvio-lacustrine deposit. Previous work at the site in the 1980s ad 1990s included continuous, systematic excavations and basic studies of the abundant cultural remains. This study applies statistical analysis and a more detailed analysis of the technology and typology to the complete sample of lithic material from the 1980s excavations. Based on these analyses, it is concluded that Donggutuo was a tool-manufacturing locality where small elongated flakes and small tools, mostly made on small flakes, were produced. These represent an Lower Paleolithic small-tool tradition of North China. It is further proposed that a distinct category of "DGT (Donggutuo) cores" exists that demonstrate a very close relationship with Upper Paleolithic wedge-shaped microlithic cores, and extend the northern china small-tool tradition's origin much earlier than previously recognized. Thus "DGT cores" are an antecedent of the microlithic tradition in China, East Asia, North Asia and North America. The present research on the Donggutuo lithic industry leads to a possible new interpretation of the patterns of cultural development between the East and the West of the Old World. This may shatter the long held conventional view that early humans in East Asia did not develop any standardized technique of shaping stone. An urgent need for experimental studies on raw materials of inferior quality is also propose by the author. The uniqueness of the "DGT cores" indicates the sophisticated technical skills and advanced intelligence of the Donggutuo tool makers. The Donggutuo lithic industry emphasizes the possibilities of cultural diversity of early humans through out the Old World and the inference from early researchers that Asia is probably a vast dispersal center of the early human industries. |
