摘要This study investigates Bronze Age dietary transitions among aristocrats and sacrificial victims from Ju'an Site in Shaanxi Province, northwestern China. By employing high-precision stable isotope analysis on individuals, the study reveals lifespan dietary shifts shaped by age, gender and sociocultural roles. The aristocrats underwent a breastfeeding and weaning period for similar to 2-3 years. Childhood diet of the man was dominated by C-4-based resources with high meat consumption, whereas the woman prioritized C-3 plant-derived foods, reflecting gendered and regional norms. However, the dietary of sacrificed victims exhibited C-4-plant-derived foods. People dietary gradually go stabilized by adolescence, punctuated by short-term shifts from life events. The findings highlight food's role in reflecting identity hierarchies and cultural continuity, offering insights into ancient nutrition, social stratification and the enduring process of how dietary practices molded social and cultural identities over time.
